Valorie Groves Mathers
Valorie Groves Mathers, 49, of Marietta died Friday (March
15, 2002) at Selby General Hospital.
She was born July 11, 1952, in Marietta to Jack and Donna
Price Groves. She had been employed for many years at Kay Jewelers in
Parkersburg and was currently employed by A.V.I. Food Service at
Marietta High School. She was a Baptist by faith and attended Twin
Rivers Baptist Church.
She is survived by her husband, Rodney Mathers; two sons,
Brian Metcalf and his wife, Jamie, and Adam Metcalf, all of Marietta;
one daughter, Amy Metcalf of Marietta; one stepdaughter, Debbie Watson
of Middlebourne, W.Va.; one stepson, Jerry Mathers of Middlebourne; her
father and stepmother, Jack and Lynne Groves of Marietta; one sister,
Renee Hodge and her husband, Kim, of Marietta; two granddaughters,
Jasmine and Ariel Metcalf, both of Marietta; two step granddaughters of
Marietta; one step grandson of Marietta; two nieces, Jessica Hodge Beddow
and her husband, Derrick, and Meredith Hodge, all of Marietta; and one
nephew, Kyle Hodge, of Marietta.
She was preceded in death by her mother and one uncle, Jack
Price.
Services are at 1:30 p.m. Sunday at
McClure-Schafer-Lankford Funeral Home in Marietta with Pastor James P.
Rushing Jr. officiating. Burial is in East Lawn Memorial Park Mausoleum.
Visitation begins at 2 p.m. Saturday with the family present from 2 to 4
and 7 to 9 p.m.
